My dad
My dad is the one who sewed for basil an apron,
Who let the breeze dance on the cheeks of jasmine.
He used to spread laughters in all directions,
And pick the smile from the mouth of a rose.
My dad for whose soul lemon trees blossomed,
And on whose hands their branches took a nap,
And on whose absence the olive seedlings cried;
Which were never thirsty in his life.
The sky’s eye roamed over his good-heartedness
Following his seasons, staying up on dew.
After my dad, our land fasted
It remembers him,
And its tears were its breakfast.
